  3. Find the answers

Short answer

Add questions to the event under Questions for attendees, then add the Attendee details app block to your product page in the theme editor. Buyers fill in a name, email and your questions for each ticket before checkout, and the answers appear on the attendee list, the CSV export and the check-in screen.

  1. Add questions to the event

Open the event and find Questions for attendees. Click Add question and set:

    • Question, for example “Any dietary requirements?”
    • Answer type: Text, Choose one (with options separated by commas) or Tick box
    • Help text (optional) and Required
    • Ask on these ticket types, if the event has more than one ticket type. Leave all unticked to ask everyone.

The Free plan includes two questions per event.

  2. Add the Attendee details block

In Shopify, open Online Store → Themes → Customize and go to a product page. In the product section, add the Attendee details app block near the buy button and save.

On ticket products, the block shows one set of fields per ticket in the quantity box: name, email and your questions. Required questions must be answered before adding to cart.

  3. Find the answers

Answers appear on the event’s attendee list, in the CSV export and on the check-in screen at the door. Each ticket is issued in the attendee’s name and emailed to their own address.

Why “Buy it now” disappears

On ticket products, the block hides the “Buy it now” and express checkout buttons, because Shopify does not pass attendee details through them. Buyers who skip the form, for example by changing the quantity in the cart, can still fill in the details later through the link in their ticket email.
